Egypt
Located in Sheikh Zayed City, Giza, the 500,000 sqm New National Cancer Institute campus will become the largest comprehensive cancer centre in the region. The multidisciplinary facility combines a 1,000- bed teaching hospital and outpatient facility with a research centre, conference and training centre, faculty and scientific centre, nursing and medical technicians’ training institutes, hotel, and housing for both residents and students. Anticipated completion is in 2019.

UAE
In January 2018, Zulekha Healthcare announced its plans to build a 150-bed hospital in Sharjah and add 60 inpatient beds, operation theatres, emergency services and labour rooms to its existing hospital in Dubai.

KSA
In November 2017, Dallah Healthcare and AWJ Investment Co. (AWJ) formed a joint venture to build and operate a hospital. Dallah Healthcare, with a 56% stake, will invest SAR 350 million (US$ 93.3 million*) for the construction of the hospital, while the land will be provided by AWJ.

Kuwait

Initiated by the Kuwait Ministry of Health (MoH) as part of the Kuwait National Healthcare Development Plan, the expansion of the Al Adan Hospital will provide 632 beds over 14 floors. It will offer new maternity and paediatrics healthcare facilities including associated supporting facilities, a general surgical unit, same-day surgery, nutrition and dietetics, adult and paediatrics physiotherapy and rehabilitation unit, hospital administration and a multi- story car park. The main hospital has a clinical podium housing a large entrance atrium, clinics and acute services with three upper ward towers providing identity and scale to the development.

Oman
In January 2018, the project manager of Elixir United Investment LLC disclosed the company’s partnership with an Italian investment fund to build a 300-bed specialty hospital in Muscat. To be built at a cost of OMR 100 million (US$ 259.4 million*), the project is expected to complete in 2020 and Elixir United Investment LLC will hold a 30% stake in the project.

Bahrain
In February 2018, the government announced plans to develop a new integrated medical city complex to the north of Muharraq governorate. The complex will include a maternity hospital, a sclerosis therapy centre and an elderly care centre. It will be part of the government’s Saada project to develop the Muharraq waterfront.
